About Us

In 2025, Rushwood Barn came under new stewardship. The barn was raised in 1907 by a community that understood something about building things to last. Our job: preserve what they made and make space for the gatherings that happen here now.

What hasn’t changed matters more than what has. The team that built this venue’s reputation is still here. Lauren works with every couple from first inquiry through the end of the night, supported by a crew that knows this property inside and out.

When you reach out, you’re talking to the person who will actually work with you. No sales team, no handoffs. That’s intentional. It keeps things personal.

Curious about the property history or the barn-raising photographs? Ask during your tour.

A Note From The Stewards

We’re Mike and Megan Murano, along with our children Emily, Noah, Jacob, Aviella, and Fynn. We purchased this property in 2025 because the place mattered to us—a barn with history, beautiful land, and a property where families had already gathered to celebrate.

Since then, we’ve focused on caring for what was already here and improving what needed attention. The guest house was prepared and opened for on-site stays in October 2025, so wedding parties could wake up here the morning of their celebration. The hilltop gazebo was hardscaped and landscaped. Grounds were improved, infrastructure upgraded—without changing the character of the place.

We’re directly involved in how the property is cared for and how events are run. Lauren coordinates all weddings and works with couples from their first inquiry through their wedding day, so nothing gets missed.

This barn was raised in 1907 by the Rush community—neighbors gathered on the beams to lift the frame together. For years, it was known as the Rochester Wedding Barn. We’ve renamed it Rushwood to honor the land it stands on and the community that built it.

What you’re reading on this site reflects how Rushwood operates today, and we’re not done yet.

Reaching Us

Tours are by appointment. Text or call 585-282-7733 to schedule—we’re typically responsive within a few hours during business days. Email works to: rushwoodbarn@gmail.com. If you’re trying to get a sense of whether Rushwood is right for your event, a tour is the best way. We can walk you through the spaces, talk about how the weekend works, and answer questions that don’t fit neatly into a website.

How We Work With You

Weddings are our focus, especially during peak season when Saturday weekends are reserved for them. But outside those times—midweek, off-season, Sundays—the property can be used in other ways. Corporate retreats in the barn. Bachelorette weekends in the guest house. Private celebrations using whatever combination of spaces makes sense. A place like this should be lived in and used well, not sit empty between weddings.
